ATAL TUNNEL:Longest and highest tunnel in world
BREAKING NEWS ROHTANG:-
India made world's longest and highest tunnel to reduce distance between Manali and Leh by 46 km and also travel time by four to five hours.
1.It will prove useful for India both economically and strategically.it is a highway tunnel is 9.02km long.
2.This tunnel will prove to be very effective if there is a war with Pakistan and China in the future of India.
3.This tunnel has been inaugurated today by our Prime Minister on the 3rd of October.
4.This tunnel has been built using ultra modern technology,Which is made in the Pirpanjal range of Rohtang.
5.Due to snowfall in many inaccessible places in the Himalayas, contact with the rest of India for 4 to 6 months was lost, due to which our army feel difficulties in petrolling in border areas but because of this tunnel is complete now,our army can go there and access and control activities.
6.The southern end of this tunnel is located at 3060 meters, 25 kilometers away from Manali and northen portal is located at altitude of 3071meters, in Lahaul valley near the village of Teling Sissu.
7.It also has an emergency tunnel connected to the main tunnel which is useful in case of any emergency.
8.It can pass 1500 trucks and 3000 cars in a day and a two-road highway has also been built so that the tunnel does not get jammed.
9.Skylight and fire guard equipment etc. are placed in this tunnel, and telephone connections are provided in this tunnel every 150 m,even in this tunnel, after every 250 meters, CCTV cameras are also installed.
10.Roadlight at every 25m is installed and Broadcasting system has also been installed in the entire tunnel.
When did the government decide to build this tunnel?
The decision to build this historic tunnel under Rohtang Pass was taken on 3June,2000. When the Prime Minister of India was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was honored with Bharat Ratna. The foundation stone of this tunnel was laid on the southern end near Rohtang on 26May,2002.The BRO worked hard to build this tunnel, with the most difficulty coming in the 587 Mater's Sirinala Fort area. Success on both ends was achieved by BRO on 15October,2017
Union Ministers held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24December,2019 and changed the name of Rohtang Tunnel to the 'Atal Tunnel' to give respect for PM. Atal Bihari Vajpeyee.
